We took a wonderful impromptu walk to the beach at Garry Point Park. Breccan asked to go, Ger was bored, and Olin was struggling to nap, so a walk was in order! Ger hopped over the driftwood logs, Breccan drug a stick up and down the sand, and Olin cuddled away from the wind in the Moby. It really reminded me how much I love our new community. As much as I loved East Van, it was missing a good beach that was walking distance. Garry Point is a lovely stroll along the West Dyke trail.I always feel calmer at the beach, and there's something particularly soothing when the temperature is a bit lower. Watching the waves, sipping tea from a thermos, wellies in the sand. B seems to find calm as well. His kinetic energy is channeled, and he focuses better throughout the day. Maybe I'm more patient with him too. It also rehminds me to take advantage of free days and continued good weather. We easily could have spent longer at the beach if I'd brought snacks. Several hours with everyone at peace is a luxury, an opportunity to be taken whenever it presents itself.
