I took the boys to Science World recently. It was a warm day outside, so not many people were there. It was perfect. I could let Breccan roam wherever he wanted to go and not worry about either losing him in the packs of school kids or spending my energy refereeing over toy battles. Plus, as much as I love the weather, I need to keep Olin's fair skin out of too much midday sun.Breccan has been into little science activities lately. We've done a few gardening experiments. We grew seeds on paper towels, and we planted sunflower seeds at Gigi's house. He loves digging in the dirt, so fostering a love of gardening seems like it would be easy. Also, maybe if he's able to grow his own food he'll be more inclined to eat it!We learned about chemical reactions with baking soda, vinegar, food dye, and dish soap. We just got this book all about the body. Breccan loves talking about how food becomes poop, of course. It is so fun to hear him learn new things. When he understands it, he yells out "That's right!" One of the things I love about motherhood is that it causes me to learn new things about subjects I might not look at normally. I know more construction equipment and dinosaurs than I ever would have otherwise. Today I learned that bees dance in a figure 8 with a wiggle in the center to lead hivemates to nectar. We've been doing little bee dances all afternoon.
