We took the boys out to the pumpkin patch at Richmond Country Farm. We went last year, and it was the perfect combination of cheese and fun that we decided to go again this year.Breccan loved the hay fight area. Or rather, he loved it up until some kid attacked him in a hay tunnel. He ended up with a big scratch on his face and hurt feelings. We had to talk through some pretty powerful emotions: fear, sadness, disappointment, anger, revenge. Luckily we found some mud puddles. A lot of emotions can get worked out stomping in some good mud!Joy was quick to return, though, on the wagon ride and in the pumpkin fields. There were some beautiful sunflowers and so many pumpkins. The only thing that pressed us for time was Nick's poor arms hauling pumpkins. Sometimes trips like this can be chaotic, it's important to take a minute to just observe and enjoy their joy in playing.
