Long Beach, Washington
We spent the weekend in Long Beach, Washington visiting family. I was hoping for a chance to post about some of the sites, but the weather was not so great, and the boys were nursing colds and coughs. One of the most frustrating things is when both boys fall asleep in the car when we are out. I don't want to just drive around for an hour or two. Breccan will sleep for 2 hours if he's out. Luckily, this trip, I was able to find a beach, and I let Ger run for a short time in the mud and rain. I also found a beautiful acreage for sale, so we drove the grounds. It was beautiful, moody, very "Irish seaside cottage". Perfect for a dreary rainy day.We stayed at the Lighthouse Oceanfront Resort. I have nothing but good things to say. It's a little on the outskirts of town, but the beach is quiet and very close to the cabins. The sunset views were incredible, and the highlight of the trip was relaxing on the porch with wine while the sun went down. The sun cleared right before we left, do we did manage to sneak in a quick run to the beach. The image of Breccan running up the trail through the tall grass in the sunshine will get me through a lot of rainy days to come! This was our first time traveling with both boys. It was definitely chaotic. It seemed like someone was always grumpy. Moments where all 5 of us were content and not in need of rest, food, bathroom, or entertainment were rare. Those moments were definitely special, but it was a lot of work getting to them!
