I recently got to try out Joyride Nails, a newish salon on 4th Avenue in Vancouver. They've been open since September 2015. They are clean and bright, the equipment is all able to be sterilized in a dental grade sterilizer or disposable. They also have tea, coffee, and fresh juice available.I have only gotten my nails done professionally a handful of times in my life, usually for special occasions. However, my toenails have gotten very squirrelly now that I'm big enough not to be able to reach them. So pedicure it was! A good excuse to indulge in some self-care and pampering before the newborn stage is upon us.I booked the full treatment, Major Joyride Pedicure. At $65, it is comparable, pricewise, to other salons. The paraffin treatment and exfoliating scrub were absolutely to die for on my neglected feet and legs! I was taken care of for a full hour, and never rushed out the door. The salon is a bright, beautiful space. I find most nail salons are dingy and crowded. The staff was all very pleasant and kind, and if you feel like not talking, they give you an iPad to use while you are there. They have tons of colors from high quality brands. I chose an aptly named "Don't be blue" from Ella + Mila's "Mommy" line. The best bonus for moms: they mentioned that Joyride is a kid-friendly space. They actually have services marketed toward kids. They told me to feel free to come in with my new baby if I want a treatment after he is born. I think that will definitely go on my agenda.
